When the Process is Limiting Coach Speak

When listening to all these press conferences introducing new football coaches over the past off-season at the collegiate and professional level, we continue to hear about the “process” countless times.
The “process” has become an overused and quite limiting coach speak not only in the sports world, but also in corporate environments as well.
Here is what we all need to focus on as leaders.
We need to lead with a framework around emotional intelligence and empathy when we talk about standards instead of ideology.
We need to identify what works for us.
We need to build around communication and a mentality to keep building, keep competing to our future selves. And most importantly, we need to lead with an environment where our people feel safe and confident that we have their backs.
This will allow everyone to work with more fluidity and just keep building.
